By vibrational spectroscopic techniques, 3 regions of 8 different historical libraries’ (Science Dissemination Foundation recai Mehmed Efendi, Atıf Efendi, Süleymaniye, Millet, Beyazıt Yazma Eser, Nur-u Osmaniye, Bridged and Ragıp Paşa Libraries) soil samples were examined in order to understand how various pollutants effected these soil samples. Thus, it will be possible to say how the rare manuscripts could be affected by these pollutants. For this purpose Infraredand Raman spectroscopic methods were used. This study is still being continued and preliminary results were presented here.
