HISTORICAL SITES HELP FIRE RISK MAP in the creation of GIS

Abstract
Analyzing the impacts of disasters and secondary effects in the history of Istanbul, it is seen that they were greatly effective at the city scale. These fires destroyed significant historical texture and historical and cultural heritage of Istanbul. Fire prevention applications which can be differ according to city’s urban fabric are very important for right response to fires. This study emphazise to develop a strategic protection proposal which is to aim optimum solution by considering historical texture of İstanbul. The study focuses on a fire-response research method which is created in the GIS system by using statistics of annual fire and duration of fire response. Fatih district of Istanbul province was selected as the sample area. As a result of this study, It is propose to create of the Fatih district fire risk map, to determine special vehicles needing, to recommend likely fire stations and fire hydrant locations.

Summary
Disasters in the history of Istanbul and the knock-on effects are examined, It is seen that substantially effective fire. These fires have destroyed the historical texture of Istanbul significantly, history has led to the deletion of the cultural heritage. To vary according to the texture work is very important for accurate placement of fire prevention fire fighting. The aim of the study, taking account of the historic fabric of the proposal is to develop a strategic protection aims to achieve the optimal solution. Studies using annual fire and fire response time statistics research focuses on a method will be created in GIS. Fatih district of Istanbul province is chosen as a sample area. Study results, for firefighting, Establishment of the Fatih district fire risk map, determining the need for special tools, have been proposed new platoon and hydrant locations.
