In 1991, he graduated Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Department of Geodesy and Photogrammetry (Geomatics) Engineering.
He completed Master program in 2005 in Istanbul Technical University, Institute of Social Sciences, Housing and Earthquake Program.
He graduated with PhD degree in Cultural Heritage Protection and Restoration Department, Conservation Renovation and Restoration Sub-Department from Istanbul University, Institute of Social Sciences, (2006-2011). Thesis subject is “Istanbul Beylerbeyi Palace Risk Analysis and Proposals of Preventive Measures”
He received the title of Associate Professor in 2017 and Professor in 2022 in the Department of Records Management.
He joined international training programs such as: “Mitigation Strategy for Mega-Urban Earthquake Disaster” in Japan in 2006 (JICA- Japan International Cooperation Agency & Kobe University – RCUSS ), ” International Cooperation and Training in Disaster Risk Reduction” in Japan in 2007 ( JICA- Japan International Cooperation Agency & Kobe University – RCUSS ), “International Property Valuation Training” in Malaysia in 2008 (MTCP – Malaysia Technical Cooperation Program & INSPEN );

He contributed to the MEMORI Project (Measurement, Effect Assessment and Mitigation of Polutant Impacton Movable Cultural Assets. InnovativeResearch for Market Transfer), one of the 7th Framework Programs of the European Union, between 2010 and 2013 as the “End User Consultant”.
He lectures in the scope of ‘Preventive
Conservation’ on reducing the risks in Art Gallery, Library, Archive and
Museum (GLAM) institutions where cultural heritage is located, which are
‘Information and Cultural Centres’, proactively protecting, documenting and
archiving cultural heritage and lectures in the field of ‘Preventive Criminalistics’ for the examination and documentation
of ‘Forensic Documents’. He participates in many national and international
events. He is the Editor-in-Chief of
LAMRE Journal (Journal of Library, Archive and Museum Research).
He believes that interdisciplinary studies should be organized and working together to reduce risks as proactive approach in world scale. He has worked as a Class A Occupational Safety Expert in the Directorate of Fire Brigade Department, Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM,,sk,Libraries and Museums Directorate in Class A has worked as a Safety Specialist,,tr), Libraries, Archives and Museums Dep. in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and teaches “Safety and Emergency Culture” at the several universities.
He is a member of the International Balkan Academy of Forensic Sciences (BAFS).
He was Executive Board Member of JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) Association for 2012-2018.
He is currently a lecturer at Istanbul Medeniyet University, Department of Information and Records Management and In Graduate Education Institute Occupational Health and Safety Program.
